My Happy Place!

It's get to know you week on the MarkerPop blog...and we're not supposed to share a stamping project. Last month I shared a peek of our family vacation....so this month I've decided to share another happy place with you! Sorry it's stamping related...but I'm sure you can cope! *wink!*

If you've been following a while, you may have stopped by before....but to my new followers, here is where I play!
My stamping studio is located in our basement family room. While windows and a first floor locale are on my wish list, I'm in no rush....I keep it pretty colorful and cheery down here....and nobody but our family sees the mess! *wink*
To my left there is a storage unit hubby made me back when wood stamps was what I did...thought I would never outgrow it! LOL! I keep some paper here as well as stamp sets, both wood mounted and unmounted in cd cases. I could save lots of space by unmounting my wood stamps, but I won't...I like the feel of wood and would rather create than mess with that sticky process!

Behind me is a wall of storage that houses design team stuff, ribbons, punches and cardstock. This has been changed up...but still houses those things.

Behind that half wall there is a full wall of storage....gotta love Target! This wall houses more papers, stickers, rub-ons, paints, glitters, sprays, you name it, it's probably there! I have another half wall of cubes...with more of the same. If I'm not stamping, I'm probably organizing!

One favorite idea for those bulky punches that I can't part with....a microwave rack that was sitting in our storage room....check it out!

I now have it sitting on top of a cardboard box that I covered in some pretty natural white wrapping paper. The box is just deep enough for the handles....and I have them all out in sight and easy to grab. The flatter punches are in drawers below them.

So....will let this be all for tonight...I have some stash to stash and some projects to finish up...thanks for stopping by!

My World - The Rubber Cafe' Blog Hop!

Welcome to The Rubber Cafe new release blog hop. This is Day #3 and you'll be hopping with Cherry and myself!!

If you just happened to visit my blog today and would like to start this blog hop from the beginning, simply start on  The Rubber Cafe blog to begin the celebration!

There will be a Grand Prize for one lucky winner plus smaller prizes along the way. . . so be sure to stop at each blog and leave a comment to be registered. Don't forget to also leave a comment on each main blog post at The Rubber Cafe too!

We are celebrating the newest release called: On the Fence Bundle. This bundle comes with a brand new exclusive die template manufactured by Spellbinders Paper Arts called On the Fence Die! What makes this die unique? It's versatility! At first glance, you might see just a fence but soon you'll realize it can be so much more. Follow us on the blog hop each day from August 27-31 to find out what all this die can do!

Similar to my tutorial post yesterday, I thinned down the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue with a tiny bit of water to paint the butterfly wings for just a touch of glitter!
I used Authentique's Lively Collection for my card.
A touch of paper embroidery and some May Arts Ribbon adds some fun touches of detail.   The fence die is embossed and distressed with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

So...if you haven't yet...hop on over and check out Cherry's project!

Digital Tuesday Color Challenge

It's Digital Tuesday and this week we have a color challenge for you!   The colors are Coral and Kraft!

I decided to go with some beautiful pre-colored Faux Foldy Flower images from Fred, She Said.  I layered them onto a die cut that I hand embroidered using the Paper Pricking image which fits SU's Top Note Die perfectly!  The largest flower is printed on some sheet music for added interest.

I have a bin of cut out elements that I love to mix and match, so some of my leaves are from the Big Dahlia set.  I used up 3 various pieces of embroidery floss in shades of kraft to brown.

I layered the stitched panel on a piece of kraft cardstock embossed with a cArt-Us embossing folder called Trendy Braiding.  If you order from CropStop....use code CTMP-2 to save 10% on your entire order!

Good Company

this is one of two posts today, please scroll for more inspiration!

I have a very Victorian feel card for you today for you today for One Crazy Stamper.

I used some beautiful dies for today's card on some tan cardstock.    The edge die is Lace Light Deco Border from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The oval is the Lacey Oval CR1204 from Mariann Design.

For a fun touch I threaded some pink/white bakers twine through circular holes on the oval die.  A simple tip for you....use a dab of glue to twist the *needle end* of your thread...and it is simple to sew through the holes with  no fraying tip!

Papers are from Authentique's Lively collection.  I colored the image from Flourishes set From The Desk Of with Prismacolor Pencils.

Hand Over The Candy Corn

I have a fun card for you today featuring some of the Prickley Pear new red rubber fall release!  Hand Over The Candy Corns and Monster Collage.

I decided to go with a shaker card for this image.  I stamped the little monsters image on acetate with Stazon ink.  NOTE:  You can flip this image either way before you stamp the sentiment in there...one of the perks of acetate!    I stamped the image again and trimmed it so that I could line my sign.  The bat brads hold my sign layers together.

I popped a fun piece of designer paper on the background to highlight my little monsters before creating my shaker box window.  I added the foam tape and the micro-beads before finishing my card with one more bat.  I popped him through my shaker window..and then attached the window to my folded card.

The front is adorned with some patterned paper elements and Candi dot embellishments.

For more of this fun release, be sure to pop by the Prickley Pear Blog this week!

Season's Greetings - Tutorial

Happy Weekend to you!  Today I'm sharing a card for The Rubber Cafe, my first as a "Glue-ista!"  I've been asked to share with you all the wonders of the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue!  So, keep your eye out for projects from me in the future months featuring tutorials of things you can create using this fabulous glue!

For my first project, I'm showcasing the Glitter/Acetate technique and the following stamps from The Rubber Cafe:
My twist on this technique is to add glitter to both sides of the acetate!  I added the berries and the dripping wax to the top of the acetate while the rest of the glitter is sandwiched behind the acetate.
Step #1:  Stamp your image onto acetate with Stazon Ink and let the ink dry a few moments.
Step #2:  Using a craft sheet, pallet or slick surface, give yourself a bit of the glue and one spritz of water.  I'm thinning the glue just a bit so I can paint it onto the acetate.  You can use the glue straight from the bottle, which I did on the beads, however the glue is thicker and will take a bit more time to dry.
Step #3:  Starting with your darkest color of glitters, begin painting those areas on the back side of your image and applying glitter.  Here I started with the Canadian Blue You're So Fine Glitter and moved on to the Hanukkah Blue glitter.  Be sure you flick of the extra glitter in between steps so you don't mix your glitters!  Next I moved on to the flame which I used a bit Copper and Gold Medal glitters for.  For these colors I do not wait for the glue to dry, I just try to keep the glittered areas separate as I do them.
Step #4:  You can see here I moved on to the Silver Medal glitter next and finally the Diamond Clear Cool Highlight glitter.  The reason I start with the darker colors first is because if you do the white first, and add silver or blue afterwards before they are dry, you will get some bleedtrough as the darker glitters will show through your transparent glitter as some will stick a bit unless you wait until the image is completely dry between each step...I just don't have the patience to wait that long!
After the backside has been completely glittered, I do let it completely dry before I flip it over and add any accents to the front.  As mentioned before, I added berries with the Patriot Red glitter and some wax with the Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitters.

Embossing folder on this card is by cArt Us - Trendy Braiding.

Little Boy Card

Happy Thursday to you!    Today I have a card I made for a new babe' in our neighborhood!

This card is a fun one that came about when I challenged myself to use some adorable scraps that Pat RAK'd me with.  Scrapbooking remnants she found at a rummage sale are quite easy to turn into greeting cards!

Have you created something with cardstock remnants lately?!  Give it a go, it's fun!

Glitter Painting with Scrap Happy Glue!

Hello There!  Today I have a glittery card for The Rubber Cafe to share with you using one technique I've done before, stamping with glitter and one that I have tried for the first time with Scrap Happy Glue which I don't know what to call, so I went with glitter painting!

For my background, I stamped the Wood Grain background stamp using the Scrap Happy Glue and then after it had dried for a bit, I covered it with You're So Fine Passion Pink Glitter.  This makes for a gorgeous glittery background.  I want to try this again on patterned paper, I'm sure it will be gorgeous!

For the main image, I stamped the Grater Floral image and colored it with the following Copic Markers:
E49, E43, E42,YG67, YG17, R89, R85, R83, R81, V06, V04, W5, W3.

Usually when I've done this technique in the past, I've used a Xyron sticker machine, but it always irks me a bit to use all of that adhesive.  So....instead I had the dandy idea to use Scrap Happy Glue!  The glue is a bit thicker than I wanted for a light coating, so I thinned it with water and painted my entire image with the thinned glue and let it dry slightly.  Next I rubbed on the You're So Fine Clear Cool Highlight Glitter and buffed it to a shine.  You get a gorgeous glittery image for a FRACTION of the price!  Lots of Glitz for your money!

I added a touch of paper embroidery to my card as well using the Spellbinders On The Fence set.  I used the strip die and pierced the holes.  A bit of metallic floss and you can add a fun finishing touch!

Hope I've inspired you to try something new today!

CropStop Duo ~ Flowers|Dots|Bling Challenge

Today's post is for CropStop! There is a new challenge this week and it is Flowers|Dots|Bling!

For my first card I went with some pretty flowers that I stamped with Twinkling H2O's and cut out leaving a narrow white boarder.  Nothing shimmers quite like them!  I stamped the text stamp on watercolor paper with Stazon ink.  I painted the green detailing with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I layered my image on two pieces of embossed cardstock.  I used cArt Us Embossing Folders; Trendy Braiding and Trendy Diamond.
For my second card, I went with a fall floral color scheme.  I layered my floral image on a panel that has been embossed with Cuttlebug's Hounds Tooth Embossing Folder.  I wrapped it with some twine and added a dragonfly brad that I distressed with a bit of Adirondack Copper Mixative.  I finished my card with some Candi Dot Embellishments.  I stamped my sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

As always, there are slew of new products being added to the store.....so stop on by and use coupon code CTMP-2 to save you 10% on ANY sized order!  Enjoy!!

Other stamps on this post include:  Stampin' Up, Endless Creations and Hero Arts.

Tuesday Tip...

This is one of two posts today, so be sure to scroll for more inspiration.
I have a Tuesday Tip for you today for MarkerPop.    I love the fun wood buttons you can get from Prima Marketing...they come in a package with a variety of fun coordinating colors.  What happens though, when you get to the bottom of the bag and have one lonely button left that just doesn't seem to match anything?

My card features papers from Wild Rose Studio's Wintery Christmas collection.  I added adhesive to the top of my button and then trimmed it out...and there you have it, a perfectly coordinating embellishment!  I created another coordinating embellishment simply using the papers and a bit of ribbon....a thrifty way to use up your scraps and add fun and fresh embellishments to your project!

I stamped the Baby Shower image by Magnolia with Milled Lavender Distress Ink on white cardstock.

So Hap-Pea For You!

This is one of two posts today, so please scan for more inspiration!
Just had to share this sweet card with you today for the Digital Tuesday Challenge.  There is a little babe' on the way for some friends of ours...and the theme of the shower was peas in a pod!

I knew I had the perfect image and designer papers in my stash for this one!  Love it when that happens!
The adorable image and sentiment are available at McMahon Five Designs and is the Peas and Thank You set by Studio 313.

The image is colored with Copic markers...and the papers are by Heidi Grace Designs (Baby|Row of Icons) and DCWV's Nana's Nursery Baby Boy collection.

Other items on this card include Candi embellishments, Corner Punches, sheer ribbon and the Cuttlebug Brocade embossing folder.

Today I have a happy card for my One Crazy Stamper post. It features the Inky Antics set Tea Cup Mouse.
I colored my image with Prismacolor Pencils and used the Gamsol to blend my colors.
The inside features a HoneyPop surprise!

Lots of new goodies in the store...be sure you pop by and check them out!

Forever My Friend

This is one of two posts today, so be sure to scroll for more inspiration!
Today's card for Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps is a pretty floral one!  This flower image is called Poppies Garden and I paired it with Forever My Friend and the Scalloped Oval Die.

I colored the image with Tim Holtz Distress Inks after stamping it with black Stazon Ink.  I used Fired Brick, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint and Scattered Straw.  Next, I ran the image through and embossing folder.  Finally, I distressed the embossed panel with Frayed Burlap Distress ink.

I embellished the card with a Making Memories decorative brad, Prima flowers, May Arts ribbon and dragonfly charms.

Just Because...

I have a masculine card for you today for The Rubber Cafe....featuring the J1030 Right Oak Branch and C388 Just Because images.

I kept the card simple and monochromatic, stamping the image in Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then subtly adding some distressing along the edges.  I used Choc-A-Mocha Candi and some corrugated cardboard to embellish my card.

I'm also entering this card in the Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge this week which is Monochromatic!

  • Today's card uses images from the new Miles to Go set.  I decided I needed a car for these images, so went with the Holiday Cruiser set!  I modified the car a bit, cut off the top and piled my suitcases back there, tied with twine so they won't fall off along the way!

    I colored the image with Copic Markers: YG95, YG93, BG10, B28, B24, B21, YR15, YR14, Y19, Y17, R29, R22, E44, E43, W7, W5, W3.

The designer paper is from BasicGrey and a JoAnn's pack I believe....found them in my scrap bin.

I used some fun May Arts ribbon along the side of my card....I stretched it in places and tied it with twin in others for a fun Dr. Seuss style embellishment!  I also used the twine to sew down my sentiment.

Hope you've had fun checking out our cards featuring Our Craft Lounge and May Arts products!

Today's card for MarkerPoP features a Magnolia image called Scarecrow Tilda.  I have used this little missy before, you can see that card HERE and HERE.

To embellish my card, I used some  wood buttons by Prima.  There are a variety of different styles in the store to choose from. The are perfect to add a rustic touch to any project!

Paper comes from Simple Stories' Awesome collection and I used some Washi Tape for a pop of color on my card.
