Winter's Reflection 2

Today I have a peaceful scene to share with your for my Prickley Pear card.  I just love the quietness that this image speaks of.  I colored the trees in darker tones to give the feel of a deep forest.  The image is colored with Copic Markers and then is run thru the Xyron sticker machine and then covered in You're So Fine Diamond Glitter for a sparkly effect.

For the background I stamped the various snowflakes with white ColorBox ink on blue designer paper.  A touch of faux stitching sets that off nicely.  Sequins have finally made it onto my desk and I must say they are getting stuck on everything these days!  I used them on this card to accent my snowflakes.

Dreaming of Glitter Tutorial

Hello there!  Today I have a card that uses You're So Fine glitter in THREE ways!  It is a glitter shaker card featuring the glitter and acetate technique and glitter as an embellishment!  bling, Bling, BLING!

I once again grabbed some acetate that I had handy.  You can use some of that Christmas gift packaging that abounds this time of year or acetate cardstock.

Stamp your images with black Stazon ink onto the acetate pieces as shown.
Next, apply glue to the back side of the stamped acetate and then apply the glitter.  You can see the dragonfly is completed here and the butterfly awaits some of the gorgeous glitter.
You will want to apply the glue sparingly as you can, but covering the entire surface.  Let the pieces dry for a few hours.  I speed things up by laying them glitter side up on the top of my Ott Lite.  Patience in stamping is not one of my strong suits!

Once dry, you will want to cut your images out closely leaving a narrow border around them.  I attached the bugs to the top of my card with glue dots under the body portion of the bugs only.

You can see the Diamond Clear Cool Highlight Glitter that I added to the Sequins in the shaker box.  I also added a few clear round glass ball beads that I had on hand.  Hint:  Glue a few sequins around your shaker box randomly so that there is the appearance of bling even when the card is not being shaken!

You can also see the glitter I used as an embellishment on this card.  So simple...just add a strip of Sookwang tape and glitter it.  Add another and glitter it and repeat as desired.  I used four different coordinating glitters to create my frame on the card.
Here is a peek at the butterfly.  You can color them any which way that inspires you...I went with pink and purple for this fanciful flutterby!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a peek at my creation!  I hope you don't just follow your dreams in the New Year...I hope you CHASE them!

Chase Your Dreams

Just loving Rubber Cafe's Take Flight Creative Cafe Kit.  I kept today's card extremely Clean And Simple, using just two of the images from the Soaring Above stamp set included in the kit, letting the images shine.

I stamped the images on some of the designer paper and kept the color scheme of this card simple.
The sentiment is popped up on Kool Tak Foam Tape over the ribbon.  The bird is popped up on foam tape as well for added dimension.

Stenciled Polished Stone Tutorial

Today's card for Prickley Pear features the Polished Stone Technique.  There is just something magical about alcohol inks on glossy papers!  I decided it was time to get them out again and play with them along with some Tim Holtz Stencils. I used CLR025B Steampunk Gears 3 Clear Set.

For my backgrounds I am using some old Studio 2 alcohol reinkers (similar to Copic makers).  You could either use Copic reinkers or some Ranger alcohol inks.  I chose Mauve, Indigo and Ice Blue.  I am using alcohol, but you could use Ranger's Alcohol Blending Solution or Copic's Colorless Blender Solution.
I am using a Ranger handle with some felt on it.  I added some Ranger Silver Mixative to the  mix for a bit of shimmery fun.
When I do this technique I usually do a whole pile.  I use glossy cardstock, but I also throw some matte photo paper scraps into the mix, I love the alcohol inks on this coated paper.
I mean, the mixture of colors you get when you mix the inks together!  Pure watercolor wonder!

So, use whatever inks you might have available to you to create some fun backgrounds today!

It's About The Journey!

Today's card for The Rubber Cafe features the Take Flight Creative Cafe Kit.  For this card I used images from the Soaring Above stamp set included in the kit, as well as the bonus add-on set Winging It.

I stamped the balloon image on acetate with Stazon ink and the glittered the back with You're So Fine Glitters in Copper and Silver Medal using Scrap Happy Glue and the Tiny Detailer Kit.

I popped the balloon, sentiment and the strip along the bottom up with Kool Tak Foam Tape.  I folded the ribbon in half and tucked it under the strip along the bottom for a fun and different ribbon treatment.  A fussy cut bug and a few gems finish off my card.

Learn, Live, Hope!

It is The Rubber Cafe Thursday and oh my...this month's Take Flight Creative Cafe Kit is a beautiful one! I chose to use images from the Winging It Add-On stamp set.

I loved the colors of the papers in the kit...and I added my own black cardstock base to the mix.  I fussy cut the coral butterfly and popped it's wings up with Kool Tak Foam Tape.  I also cut out a banner for the sentiment and popped that up on foam tape.

The ribbon I wove through 1/8 inch holes I punched down the side of the card.  It is always fun to use ribbon in an unexpected way.

The butterfly trails I drew in with a light grey color pencil and then accented it with the Stardust Pen from last month's kit.

Clean and simply beautiful!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Bon Appetite - A Meal In A Pocket!

Howdy!  Here is a fun little project I whipped up for you today using The Rubber Cafe's Now We're Cookin Creative Cafe Kit.

I started out by making a card with various papers in the kit.  I stamped and colored the image with Copic Markers:  B01, BG10, R02, G40.  I fussy cut the apron and the sentiments and popped them up on foam tape.

To create my recipe pocket I taped the top and bottom edges shut with Scor Tape.

To create my recipe cards I stamped the recipe images from the Stamping Utensils Add-On Kit.
I matted the recipe cards on coordinating paper and embellished them each with a spice that was found in the recipe.  How fun was that?

So, you can create a little meal idea with several simple recipes to tuck into the pockt.  How cute would this be in a basket with some spices and unperishable ingredients for a shower or housewarming gift?

Thanks for popping by today!

The Rubber Cafe: Creative Packaging Blog Hop

Welcome to a new recurring event, The Rubber Cafe's Creative Packaging Blog Hop.  We want to inspire you to be creative with leftovers pieces you may have from your Creative Cafe kits...use them in fun new ways to add some pizzazz to your gifts or holiday place settings!

This month we were asked to use products from October's Christmas Behind the Scenes or November's Now We're Cooking Creative Kits.

If you have arrived from Debbie's blog, you are right on track.  Be sure you check them all out as well as The Rubber Cafe's blog for your chance to win some fun!

For my packaging this month I decided to use the *covers* of the 6x6 paper pads that are included in each kit!  I have resigned myself to cutting into the many beautiful papers to make my projects each month.  And often there is not much left after I get done with the paper pads...except the covers!   How can I throw those away?  They caught my eye and inspired me....and I decided to use them up too!

A tad of fussy cutting around the Made From Scratch label was perfect to layer on a folded piece of paper from the kit. I added a little label to cover the designer name and tell what is in the bag.   I used a scrap of the designer paper to stamp my recipe card (Whipped Up) on and then decorated the back just a bit more (shown below)

The brownies are decorated with the cover of the Santa Express paper pad,  I added a few little touches from the

Victorian Ornament

It's Prickley Pear Monday and I have a cheery little card for you today featuring CLR019B Victorian Ornaments 3, D019 Victorian Ornament Die, and GG0094 Collage Pine Cone Tag.

For this card I stamped the Collage Pine Cone Tag on acetate...I have been using scrap acetate a lot these days.  It is a fun way to add elements to projects without cluttering up the designer can see through it and that is a big bonus!

I stamped the ornament on some coated specialty cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers.  A bit of faux stitching and some metallic embroidery floss finishes off my card.

Be sure you bop by the Prickley Pear blog to see what Heidi did with these same images, to see the other girls' work and for your chance to win some fun!

What's Cookin' Good Lookin?

I am so excited to share this week's card using The Rubber Cafe's Now We're Cookin' Creative Cafe Kit!

Did you see what I did?  I combined the skirt sticker included in the kit with the girl image from the stamp set!  How stinkin' cute is that?   I placed the sticker on a piece of acetate that I rescued from the trash and then applied Scrap Happy Sheer Glue to the back of the acetate with the Tiny Detailer Kit.  I used You're So Fine Glitters in Copper, Limeade Green and Canadian Blue.

I colored the rest of my image with Copic Markers and used various papers in the kit to finish my card.

My little lady and the circle element are popped up on Kool Tak foam.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek at my project!

A Little bit of Spring....before Winter Hits!

It is Prickley Pear Monday...and today I felt like basing my card around a Lilla Rose Flexi Clip!

This clip is called Princess Tiara.  The beads on this clip have a fun iridescent touch to them.

For this card used a background that I made with HoneyPop paper.  The butterfly is die cut from a piece of polished stone paper.  Yep, me not throwing away my scraps again!    I colored the images with Copic markers.  Put it all together and you have a fun feminine birthday card!

Now We're Cookin with The Rubber Cafe

It's time to share another card featuring The Rubber Cafe's Now We're Cooking Creative Cafe Kit!

I'm sort of the *glitter girl* at The Rubber Cafe', when I saw the fun stickers included in the kit I couldn't decide whether I should glitter them or paper piece them!  For this card you get both!  I placed the sticker on a piece of acetate from some packaging that always seems to be coming home from shopping expeditions.  I glittered the blue and then put paper under the acetate piece for a paper pieced effect.

I popped all of the elements up on foam tape and added a few pearls from the kit that also are the perfect embellishment.

Thanks so much for taking a peek!

All Occasion Card Duo

Nobody wants to send out a Get Well card...but if you have a need, this is a cute image and sentiment from Inky Antics. The image is colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol.
And what a fun little birthday card.  The designer paper is some from a JoAnn Fabrics stash I think, just love the playful dots/grid with this image.
