Where Flowers Bloom....

Ooh, I took some *me* time today and made a card just because I felt like it!  I have a pile of new stamps from Stampers Anonymous and they just had to see ink!

This card features a fun border stamp U6-2403 that I stamped in milled lavender distress ink before embossing my white panel with a Couture Creations embossing folder.  Then I did some good ole' paper embroidery...I'm gonna love that stamp!

The flowers are from Art Gone Wild's Suzanne Carillo collection: D1-2568 Leaf and H1-2571 Daisy.
I colored them up with Copic Markers: V28, V17, V15, V04, G09, YG17, YG25, YR68, YR16, Y17 before fussy cutting them.  I popped a few of the flowers and one of the leaves up with foam tape.

The sentiment is from a Studio 490 set; SCS117 Garden Art.

Thanks for stopping by today!

CropStop Guest Designer Week #4!

Hello!  It's my last day this month as Guest Designer for CropStop and I'm playing with a whole pile of fun goodies from the store!

Couture Creations Nesting Dies: Fleur-De-Frame
Cart-Us Trendy Braiding Embossing Folder
Candi Dots
Scor-Bug Embosser

I embossed the die after cutting it and then popped it up on foam tape over the beautiful embossed panel.  Images and papers on these cards are digital images from Fred, She Said Designs.  I fussy cut two sets of tulips and popped them on foam tape on top of each other for added dimension.

Couture Creations Nesting Dies: Fleur-De-Frame
Cart-Us Trendy Braiding Embossing Folder
Candi Dots
Scor-Bug Embosser

For this card I switched out the images and then used the dies flat on the card.
Memory Box Catalina Wreath Die
Cart-Us Trendy Braiding Embossing Folder
Doodlebug Glitter Brads Multi-pak Pastel Sugar Coated
Copic Markers:  BG01, BG10, YG17, YG25

I flipped the embossed panel over on this card for an entirely different effect.  I cut the Memory Box Die and used it to frame my floral image which is colored with Copic Markers.  Love the Memory Box dies for their beautiful intricate designs.  They cut beautifully!   The sugar coated glitter brad is the perfect size and gives the flower some POP!
Memory Box San Marzano Border Die
Cart-Us Trendy Braiding Embossing Folder

This card is fun!  For a different effect, I cut the San Marzano Border Die and then attached it to a panel of the same cardstock for a great textural effect.  Notice the border along the left side of the card?  Well, save your scraps, ladies!  If you line up your die straight when you cut it, you will get a second fun border to work with!

I simply added a strip of the embossing to separate my die cut edges.  I just cannot get enough of the beautiful Memory Box dies!
Memory Box San Marzano Border Die
Memory Box Bamboo Shoots Die
Cart-Us Trendy Braiding Embossing Folder

This is also a fun card!  Remember me saying save your die scraps just a second ago?  Well, check out the flowers on this card! I used scraps from the San Marzano Border die cut on the previous card to make frames for my flowers on this card!  I did toss the rest of the scraps, but if you see an interesting shape, don't be afraid to think out of the box and use those precious little pieces up!

I planted my flowers by using the Bamboo Shoots Die  I did snip off a few shoots and moved one sprig to a bare spot on my card.  Here I go remodeling my dies, but I like to make them work for me!

I hope you have found some inspiration this month as I have puttered away with my CropStop products!

All Bundled Up Sketch Challenge from From The Heart Stamps!

It's Sketch 055 on the From The Heart Stamps Challenge today, and here is my happy little card!
I used the Bundled Up set and paired it with papers from Crate Papers' Paper Heart Collection today.

Image is colored with Copic Markers:  E41, E42, BG0000, BG10, BG01 today and a variety of other Studio 2 alcohol markers that are no longer manufactured.  They had tinier tips, so I went with that!

My embellishments on this card are baker's twine and a few sequins.

Be sure to pop on over to the From The Heart Stamps blog today to see the other inspiration and join us in the challenge for your chance to win some fun!

Peaceful Petals - Stampin Up!

It's been a while since Stampin Up! has popped up here on my blog, but it was time to re-order cardstock and it was Sale-A-Bration time, so a few more flower sets found their way to my studio!
This is a gorgeous set called Peaceful Petals.

Flower is colored with Copic Markers:  R27, R22, R21, G43, E47, E49.  The background is stamped with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

The circular dies are D013 Scalloped Circle and D041 Scallop Circle Nesting Dies from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps.
This card is made with images from the same stamp set.  I did a SCS challenge that called for use of two stamps as borders.  I colored the images and then sent it through a SU! embossing folder for texture before using the Scor-Pal and Scor-Bug to add the faux stitching.  This is a very clean and simple card for me, but I kinda liked how it turned out!

CropStop Guest Designer Day #3!

Hello there!  It's my third week as Guest Designer for CropStop!  Today I'm playing with the Couture Creations Sunflower Nesting Dies!  I made all three of the flowers shown above with the same set of nesting dies.

For my first card, I cut each of the dies out of patterned paper and then inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress inks.  I folded each petal tip and then layered the flowers, staggering the petal tips.  I gave the flower a home on the Couture Creations Magical Embossing Folder.  A twirled twine medallion and some Candi Dots are my only embellishments on this card.

For my second card, I created petals and then rolled them around a paint brush handle to curl them.  The bottom layer is curled under and the rest of the layers are curled upwards.  I centered my flower with a Doodlebug Glitter Brad.  The embossing folder on this on is I Dream and is on Cor'dinations cardstock that has been sanded.   This card will be presented in a clear gift box due to the dimension of the flower!

Finally, this card features the same die, the same petal cutting, though in this case I scored and folded each petal down the center.  I alternated front and back of the designer papers for the pink and white effect.  I layered this flower on an embossed panel from the One World embossing folder.

All of my sentiments are stamped in coordinating Distress inks. Butterflies are Martha Stewart punches.

Here is a photo of how I trimmed my die petals for the second and third cards...then it is just a matter of scoring or curling the petals to make your flowers.

Daffodils Fred She Said Style!

Oh, it's me again, being optimistic!  Spring will spring before long and the world will be fresh and green once again!  Today I have another card trio, this time focused around the Daffodil Card Front Kit 1 by Fred, She Said Digital Designs.

For this first card, I altered the image a bit!  I cut out the center portion and lined it with papers from the beautiful Spring Daffodils Digital Paper Set by Bearly Mine Designs.  I then popped the center floral piece back in place with foam tape.  I also popped a blossom on top with foam tape.

Here you can see I cut out the main image and layered it on top of an embossed panel.  I added a few Candi Dots to embellish my image.  The center flower oval and blossom are popped up for added dimension.

And here I cut out the main image and layered it on pink cardstock edged with some white gel pen detailing.  The center flower oval and blossom are again popped up for dimension.

It's sketch day on the From The Heart Stamps blog!  I used this month's Stamp of the Month; Birthday Candle Birdbrain!

You can check out the sketch challenge HERE.

I used American Craft's Hip Hip Hooray Paper Pad.  I colored my image with Copic Markers: G28, G24, BG10, BG0000, R83, R81, YR14, Y17, Y15, YR16

Rosebud Fairy

This card for Prickley Pear turned out so stinkin' cute!  Love the whimsical little GG0135 Rosebud Fairy image!  I paired it up with the HH0149 Amaryllis image and Art Tag.

I colored the images with Copic Markers:  RV00, RV52, YG93.

The dies are from Cheery Lynn and the only other embellishments are a bit of twind and some Candi Dots!

CropStop Guest Designer Post #2, Threading

It's my second week of Guest Designing for CropStop and today I'm playing with Couture Creations Dies and thread!
For this card I used one of the Scalloped Rectangle dies.  I have a huge spool of some natural colored thread, it is stronger than thread, but not a soft feel of embroidery floss, but more of a stiff wiry sort.  I love the color and the added texture it gives when I do hand embroidery with it; lots of texture!

For this piece I started on a bottom corner scallop and started wrapping the thread diagonally, then repeated the process in the opposite diagonal direction and then in vertical and horizontal directions.  The die was cut on some coated pearlescent cardstock and I love the shadows of the wrapped string as well as the string itself!

I embellished this panel with Chips Candi Dots and the Monarch Butterfly Medium Martha Stewart punch.  I layered it all on a Cordinations panel that I embossed with the Couture Creations Magical embossing folder that has been lightly sanded.  I used the Scor-Pal and Scor-Bug and then hand-stitched around the panel before distressing the edges further.
For this card I used the same wrapping technique, except it was easier to thread my holes with a needle.  This is the smaller of the  Couture Creations Ivy Set dies.
...and here is the larger of the Couture Creations Ivy Set dies.
Finally, here is one more of the Couture Creations Scalloped Rectangle dies in a smaller size.  I will be doing this is a fun flat design element that adds a fun punch to a card!

Fred She Said Says Spring Will Come!

Yep, I'm on a spring kick...I've made 11 cards in the last two days and every one of them is focused on spring!  Today's card trio features images from Fred She Said Digital Designs.  I kept the cards similar in style to create this happy little card set!

Spring Daffodils Paper Set by Bearly Mine Designs
Spring Flowers with Pricking Frame
Wordsworth sentiment

For this card I printed the daffodil and fussy cut it before popping it up on foam tape for dimension.  I added gitter dots to anchor my frame.  I stamped the sentiment on a strip of cardstock the same color as my card base and then distressed the edges before popping it on my card flat.

For these last two cards the only difference is that I used the pre-colored image with the blue shading around it and the flowers are printed on the frame and are flatter for mailing.
Hope you enjoyed a little peek of spring!

Live, Laugh and Dance Prickley Pear Style!

I just love how this card for Prickley Pear turned out!  I loved this funky paper from Prima's North Country collection...though my stamping partner of the day detested it!  I was determined to come up with something whimsical...and I think I achieved that!

I stamped the sweet GG0136 Tulip Fairy and colored her with Copic Markers:  BG13, BG10, BG11, E44, YG91, E02, E00, R02.

I stamped FF0018 Live, Dance, Laugh image on coordinating designer paper and added a bit of grass with a Cheery Lynn Grass Border Die.

My final embellishment is a pile of flowers from CLR012 Flowers Clear Set and D012 Flowers Die.  I added some Viva Décor Pearl Paint dots to the centers of my flowers.

I'd love to hear what you think of this card!

Paper Piecing Card Duo

Today's card started from the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.  The site for inspiration was Bed Bath and beyond, and I chose to be inspired by this quilt:

I raided my scrap bin and cut 1 inch squares from various papers in red blue and then some with tan in as well.  For this card I cut the squares diagonally from tip to tip to form triangles which I then placed on a piece of white cardstock to resemble the quilt.

FF0123 Journey Awakens is a stamp from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps and could be loosely interpreted as on of the pillows on the inspiration photo.
My second card was born as cards often are on my desk from the leftover pieces.  I decided to base this card with a piece of designer paper in blues to warm it up a bit.  Then I was reminded of this Get Well Soon image that has been inked up and beribboned in my stamped image bin for years.  This card reminded me of a quilt, so maybe a get well sentiment was exactly what I needed to finish the card off.

Thanks for popping by!

From The Heart Stamps ~ Feel The Love Blog Hop!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop. Our theme this month is Feel the Love. Our designers are showcasing Valentine’s and Love themed projects.

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each entry. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win the image that the designer used. And additionally, one commenter on the From the Heart Stamps blog will be selected to win a $5 gift voucher to the store!

If you have arrived from Michelle H's blog, you are in the right place!  If not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

My project uses the Birdbrain Conversation Hearts.  I added a sentiment and some hearts from my FTHS bin of images.  I always color up multiple images and cut different bits and baubles out.  This makes for perfect card embellishments another day when I need something a little different to finish off my card.    I added hand embroidery around the image with embroidery floss.  Papers are from American Crafts' Hip Hip Hooray paper pad.  Candi Dots are my only other embellishment.
Now head over to Wendy's blog and see what she has created.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Monday February 10th at 6am, EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday February 12th.

McMahon Five Designs Release Day!

It's time for another McMahon Five Designs release, and today I have 3 sets that are being released under the Draw Me A Daydream line.  Be sure to check out the McMahon Five Designs blog though, because there are other lines also releasing new images...and more samples over there!

This first set is called Candy's Valentine.  It comes with both the black and white image as well as the pre-colored image above.  There are a pile of little sentiments that can be placed in the heart or used alongside as I did on this card.

Paper is from my scrap bin...but just love the color combo!  The die is from Cheery Lynn Dies and I cut off the scalloped edge for a less frilly heart.  Ribbon I actually was gifted by Sue McMahon many moons ago...and it finally found it's perfect home!  Just love it when it happens!  The little hearts are the few that were left in the ribbon!  More waste put to use!
This second set is called Top Hat Timmy.  This set comes with the colored and black and white version of the image and several sentiments.

Again, the papers are from my scrap bin, but this time I could see the black was from DasiyD's.  The white pieces are actually junk...I had been cutting another Cheery Lynn Die that had a lacy edge.  These zigzags emerged as I cut out several...and what to do but put them on my card!  This also fits a Splitcoast Stampers Inspiration Challenge exactly!  So fun!
The last set today is called Valerie's Valentine.  This time I left the lacy edge on the Cheery Lynn Die that I used behind my image.  Again, there is a black and white image and several sentiments that can be placed in the heart if you wish!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!  Be sure to check out the Blog Candy offering on my blog, there is still a week to qualify for a chance at the goodies being offered!

Crop Stop Guest Designer Week #1

Whoot!  It has been a while, but today I am designing for CropStop! I will be Guest Designing for the month of February!    I have a happy little ensemble to share with you today featuring Couture Creations dies and embossing folder.
This first card features the Tatted Lace die.  I had never cut an intricate die on designer paper, so I gave it a shot here.  I then layered the die cut piece on a piece of pearlized cardstock for some glimmer.  I added a few pieces of Candi Dots and some Prima flowers for a happy spring card.
This die is quite large, and as I was considering that I decided it would make the perfect little goodie bag!  I die cut the die again on the same pearlized cardstock and then worked the paper so the triangle portions stood up around the square base.  I did not want a hard fold to crack the paper, so just gently worked the petals upwards with my fingers.

Then due to the lacy quality of the die, I decided I would like a liner.  I had some pink paper handy so I laid the die on the paper and holding the die firmly in place, tore around the edges as shown in the photo above.
Then I simply placed the liner inside of the lacy piece and ran a lacy ribbon through the corners of each die petal.  Stick your treat in the bag and tie the top shut with a pretty bow!

For my final card I used the Turkish Delight embossing folder.  I decided to try a crayon resist using the embossing folder and Distress Stain.

I colored the raised portion of the embossing folder with a white crayon and ran it through the Big Shot on a piece of glossy white paper.   As you can see in the photo of the card, the center piece is white and the distress stain only stuck to the embossed areas.   For the frame of that card I used the embossing folder with no crayon and then used the distress ink and there is no resist on the frame.
I washed my embossing folder with a shot of Goo Gone to cut the crayon wax and it is as good as new.

I used the Enlightenment die for my flower on this card.  I cut the die and then pierced the holes that are meant to release the die.
Next I traced the die on the back of a pink patterned paper.  I then cut out the shape leaving a narrow border around it so it was slightly larger than my pencil lines.
Next I distressed the edges of the shape with the blade of my scissors.
Finally I stitched the flowers together with 3 strands of white embroidery floss.  Then I created a twirled twine circle for the center of my flower.  I punched a circle of cardstock and covered it with a circle of Scor-tape.  I punch a 1/8 inch circle in the center, feed my twine through and then add a glue dot to cover the hole I punched.  I tightly twirl my twine in a circle and then tuck the tail to the back.

I hope you found a bit of inspiration here today as I puttered my way through this fun ensemble!
