Faux Velvet ~ My Way!!

I have no idea if there is a faux velvet technique out there...but I came up with this one today out of the blue and velvet is what it reminded me of.

I ran some Tempting Tanzanite DoubleMates cardstock (made by WorldWin Papers) through my Paisley Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. This paper is two tone...the border of the card is the lighter color and the darker paisly panel is the coordinating color. To get the soft velvet look and feel I sanded the embossing quite heavily. I think if I had kept going I would have hit the darker color, which was my original plan...but I fell in love with the fuzzy soft look I got with just a slight color change....yummo!

The flower stamps are by Lizzie Anne....this set is on my wish list.....(don't forget Heidi!! ;) I colored the flowers with Copic/Studio2 markers and then highlighted the flowers with the Copic Spica glitter pens. The verse is by Printworks, the ribbon is by May Arts. The white panel is actually a glimmer paper and I hand-doodled the edge. You maybe can't see it in the photo, but I stamped a Printworks swirl in Moonlight White Brilliance for some subtle interest. C'mon back tomorrow to see another Faux Velvet ~ My Way card!!

I like the sound of your way better! I love using my cuttlebug, so the natural next step would be to sand it. Beautiful paper for this technique and really a lovely card.

This is an absolutely gorgeous card. I love it. Love those stamps too. I don't have any by Lizzie Anne. And of course, you HAD to use copics. Waaahhh... maybe one day I can afford them! LOL. Thanks for sharing so much of your beautiful artwork!
