Prickley Pear Card Duo!

This is one of two posts today, scroll for more inspiration!
Prickley Pear Monday is coming to your four days late on my blog this week!  A summer cold that won't leave me, doctor's appointments for the kids and some errands have kept me on the run, but I found some time in my studio last evening....and loved every minute of it!

My first card features the Ladybugs and Mushrooms image.  I colored the image with the following Copic markers:  E47, E44, E43, W7,W5, B06, G46, G43, Y38, R39, R37, R35, R22.  I distressed the edges of the image with Tim Holtz' Distress Inks in Tumbled Gleass and Shabby Shutters.  I framed the image with a touch of doodling.

The image is layered on some designer paper that I distressed with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I did some Paper Embroidery to frame my card.  The sentiment comes from the Clearly Beautiful Butterflies set.
My second card features the Nesting Finches image which I colored with the following Copic Markers:  E49, E47, E44, N0, Y38, Y35, Y32, R39, R35, R32, W7, W5, W3, G46, G43, B91.

I used a more artsy approach to coloring the background on this one and flicked color out from the image in the blues and greens.  After the image was colored, I also used some Copic Colorless Blender Various Ink on a piece of terry cloth to add texture to the entire panel.  This gives it a texutred *painted* look.

I layered the image on a Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Square die that is layered on some Creative Imaginations Banana Paper.  I added some brown felt flower s along the bottom embellished with Candi.  The tone-on-tone background is the perfect background to make this image pop.  Photographing this combination wasn't the easiest....but IRL it is very pretty.
